| † This is a minimum for one standard
resolution, monochrome EtherLynx camera. Multiple cameras, high resolution
cameras, and color cameras will all require a faster processor and more
RAM for an optimal experience. |

PC or Laptop? |
| Both PCs and laptops meet the above
requirements. Some users prefer laptops for their additional portability
and their batteries, while others opt for cheaper desktops which are
harder to steal. |
|
COM Ports |
The FinishLynx computer may require a COM
port for each of the following:
- capture button
- each of one or more scoreboards
- serial connection to meet management
program
- wind gauge
You should make sure your computer is
capable of providing sufficient COM ports for your needs, but keep in mind
that there are two ways to stretch the performance of your existing COM
port(s):
- the FinishLynx
button splitter allows you to connect both a capture button and a
scoreboard or serial connection to a meet management program to one
COM port
- the connection box of the timer enabled
camera provides a COM port that may be used for a wind guage or a
scoreboard
- it is possible to install additional
COM ports on your computer
- it is possible to use your computer's
USB port to provide additional COM ports
