Lynx System Developers, Inc. was founded in 1991 by a group of engineers from the graduate
program at MIT. The corporate headquarters are in Haverhill, MA - in the 495
corridor, the concentration of high-tech industries surrounding Boston.
Lynx i s a
privately-owned company that supplies the latest results generation and handling
technology to the sporting industry. The company employs software and hardware engineers
and has its own production division to meet the growing worldwide demand for the Lynx
range of digital sports data generation tools.
In addition to the production division and the
hardware/software development teams, Lynx has an in-house sales and marketing division,
and an event services division which provides data handling and timing services at
competitions around the globe. |
Global Access
In line with our mission statement, the
entire range of Lynx hardware and software is based on an "open architecture"
philosophy. If a data handling device can be configured to communicate with a Lynx
product, then sports data can be shared.
As a result of this, sporting events can have the
ability to generate results rapidly and then post them - real time - to the internet, to
scoreboards, to local and remote databases, etc.. Scott Logan, a senior official at the
1997 World Canoe Championships had this to say about the data handling at Canoe 97:
"The efficiency of your system and its
integration into the broader results management system cannot be over-stated. Once
running, it almost seemed too easy from the perspective of the observer. There were no
discrepancies, delays or errors. Results were to the public within seconds of each race's
conclusion and on the internet within a minute. Truly incredible." |
