Portable-VDM can be connected to your Ethernet or WiFi network to receive data from FinishLynx, FieldLynx, or LynxPad, and display graphics on your Lynx Video Display via the HDMI output. This option is a convenient solution to connect a Lynx Video Display (Portable, Infield, 360) for those who don’t have a Vision camera and cannot use the VDM upgrade, or for those who want more flexibility to decide on the location of their LED video displays for track or for field events. Resolution is limited to the size of the display purchased with the solution.
Portable-VDM Components

ResulTV-VDM Software
*ResulTV-VDM is a simplified version of ResulTV. Like the VDM option for Vision-series cameras, the content of the ResulTV-VDM layout is controlled by the data received. The source applications (FinishLynx, FieldLynx, FieldLynx Lite or LynxPad) come standard with pre-defined and customizable scoreboards scripts to create modern and eye-catching layouts for all types of events.
Are you struggling to find all the officials needed to run an event? Use it with VeriLynx or FieldLynx to flag foot fouls in the Long or Triple Jump. Is communication between the timer and the starter a challenge? Use VeriLight with FinishLynx to inform the starter that the next race is armed and ready for a start.
Pre-defined and customizable scoreboard scripts (LSS files) are provided to quickly become operational. Simply connect VeriLight to your network via Power-over-Ethernet and you are ready to go.
Multi-color (5-tier) signal tower
Ethernet connection with PoE support
Free-standing platform
Seamless Integration with VeriLynx, FinishLynx and FieldLynx
Customizable lights and sound via scoreboard script (LSS)
The display receives data through a standard HDMI connection and is compatible with any software capable of sending graphics to an HDMI-connected display. Connect it to ResulTV to output scrolling graphics of results data from FieldLynx, FieldLynx Lite, or FinishLynx.
Construction & Frame
Each LED panel measures 100cm x 50cm (19.68” x 39.5”) and together creates a 4-meter circumference (127cm diameter). Looking to add some extra height? The display allows stacking 4 additional panels on top to offer a full vertical meter of stunning graphics.
The custom aluminum frame offers solid, weatherproof construction and a lightweight design. The entire unit weighs just 55/101 kg (120/222 lbs) for the single/double options and includes a sturdy storage case on wheels for easy transportation to and from your event. Once assembled, hook the trolley handle to the frame and easily roll the display to the preferred location in the venue.
A removable vinyl cover is also included to cover the top of the display.

The Internal GPS Sync upgrade is valuable for operators who want to synchronize multiple timing devices used in parallel to time the same event. In its simplest use, Internal GPS Sync can be used to synchronize the camera time base to third-party laptime devices that are also locked to GPS time.
This upgrade could even be used as an improvement to system redundancy. If independent primary/backup cameras are both synced to GPS Time, it is simply a matter of manually entering the start TOD to recover from a missed start on one system.
The 5LGPS feature also allows users to capture the start time of an event, save the event, shutdown the camera and move it to a different location. Then re-sync, reopen the event, and resume capturing image, while maintaining the same accurate time base.
It is especially useful in Time Trial events where GPS-synchronized cameras can be placed at the both the start and finish lines. All clocks can share the same time-base even though the cameras are not networked together. This makes it possible to conveniently communicate start times to the finish line system and ensure accurate photo-finish times.
In more advanced setups, 5LGPS can allow combining multiple timing devices for motorsports events. For example, you could integrate multiple EtherLynx Vision PRO cameras, laptime decoders (with transponders), and chronometers (with photocells) — with all devices using the same Time of Day (TOD). The three types of devices may all have high-precision clocks, but if they don’t share a common start signal or same TOD, it becomes very difficult to integrate them in your timing system.
The upgrade is useful for cycling, rowing, paddling, and various types of high-speed motorsports, but also athletics (track) and cross-country.
When synced to GPS time, the cameras clock is tuned every minute and maintains sync within +/-15 microseconds.
Notes:
The upgrade is compatible with all Vision-series cameras, including the Vision (5L500), and Vision PRO (5L600). The camera needs to be sent to Lynx for hardware upgrade.
When multiple cameras are used on the same local network in the same instance of FinishLynx, only one camera requires the upgrade.
For optimal camera alignment, it is critical that any photo-finish camera be perfectly level with the plane of the finish line. The Internal Level reports the camera’s current level value in tenths of degrees, which is displayed in the FinishLynx software during the alignment process.
The Frame Offset (5LFO) upgrade allows the vertical active area of the sensor to be arbitrarily chosen, rather than always centered.
Frame Offset can be particularly useful when combined with event templates at a venue where different sections of the full width of a single finish line are used for different events, such has horse racing.
In the event of a loss of power, the camera will seamlessly switch to battery operation. The status of the battery level is reported within the FinishLynx software and accessible directly from the camera back panel LEDs.
Simply apply power (PoE or AUX) to the camera to start a 10-hour charge cycle.
Electronic Filter Control (5LEF) adds the ability to disable the camera’s standard infrared filter by switching it off from the FinishLynx software.
All Vision-series cameras are equipped with an infrared filter. This is critical in producing quality images with optimal color balance. However, in extreme low-light conditions, turning off the electronic filter using the 5LEF upgrade can allow a little bit of extra light to hit the image sensor.
Note that switching the filter off should be used as a last resort solution, after opening the iris and increasing LuxBoost.
NOTE: The Electronic Filter Control comes standard with all Vision PRO (5L600) cameras and is available as an upgrade for Vision (5L500) cameras.

Working with the ProChip Decoder are detection loops. These are installed in the track at the start and finish line and intermediate time points. The loops work as the system´s antennas and pick up the ProChips signals.
The detection loop can be installed in basically every type of surface.
Asphalt or concrete (not permanent): Use industrial quality adhesive tape to affix the loop to the course. Make sure you use high quality tape to secure the tape to the road.
Ice: Cut slots of approximately 2 cm (1 inch) deep in the ice, embed the loop wires and fill with water. Make sure to do this well in advance of an event, as the water will need some time to freeze.
Snow: Cut slots in the snow, approximately 20 cm (8 inches) deep. Place the loop wires in the slot and fill them with snow.
